Begin your renewal as soon as you receive the renewal form to avoid delays. License renewal may take up to several weeks.
You are responsible for renewing your license before the expiration date, and you will not be excused from paying additional fees or penalties. Failure to receive notification prior to the expiration date of the license, will not excuse failure to apply for renewal or late renewal.
TDLR will send you a license renewal form approximately 60-days prior to your school's license expiration date. The renewal fee for schools is $280.
It is your responsibility to renew your school license before it expires.
Please remember that if you do not keep your mailing address information up-to-date with our office, your renewal notice may not reach you. Failure to receive a renewal notice does NOT excuse you from late fees.
If you do not receive a renewal form by mail within 60 days of your renewal, please contact the Education and Examination division. Be sure to include your school’s name and license number with your request.
If you do not receive your license within 14 days after submitting your completed renewal application, please contact the Education and Examination division or call (800) 803-9202.
Schools seeking to change physical locations must submit an application form and the new location must be inspected prior to offering instruction to students at the new location.

A license that has been expired for 90 days or less may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee that is equal to 1-1/2 times the normally required renewal fee.
A license that has been expired for more than 90 days but less than 18 months may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee that is equal to two times the normally required renewal fee.
On approval by the executive director (see Request to Executive Director for Expired License Renewal Form - PDF), a license has been expired for at least 18 months but less than three years may be renewed by paying to the department a renewal fee equal to two times the normally required renewal fee.
